Social Responsibility
We are committed to supporting small businesses and disabled communities in Labuan Bajo. As a part of our social responsibility, we offer assistance to those who need it, and we welcome customers to reach out to us for information on how to volunteer, support, and empower these causes if they wish. We believe that by working together, we can create a more equitable community in our neighborhood. Our goal is to support local education, bottom-up business, and volunteering, and to help people build the skills and resources they need to succeed. We are dedicated to making a positive impact in these lives, and we invite you to join us in supporting these initiatives.
Children
The Saint Damian Catholic Congregation in Binongko serves as a haven for children with disabilities, including those born with impaired or without limbs or with HIV. Through physical rehabilitation, eco projects, and education, the church has helped over the years more than 100 children develop self-confidence and life skills. These children have accomplished incredible feats, e.g. building a pool and furniture from driftwood. The congregation provides a safe and supportive environment, giving children with such a background a chance to thrive and reach their full potential. In turn the results of this work have made a positive impact on the community and serve as an inspiration to all getting into contact with these children.
Eco Tourism
Many of the tour companies in Labuan Bajo are now run by expats and foreign investors, which has made it difficult for locals to thrive financially and maintain the integrity of their land. Despite this, there are still a few locals who are passionate about eco-tourism and are doing their best to offer visitors an authentic experience. We are proud to support two such guides, Ibu Berti in Wae Lo Lo and Gabriel in Golo Mori, who can take you on a tour of some of the most stunning hidden beaches and hiking trails in the "Land of a Thousand Waterfalls." By booking through them, you'll not only have an unforgettable adventure, but you'll also be helping to support sustainable tourism practices and the local community.
Gian
Gian was raised from age 5 onwards in the Binongko monastery. He is a talented art painter, but also doing marketing education nowadays. His remarkable artwork is proving the fact that small disabilities of his hands does not only not withheld him from being a painter, but may even help him, because imagination and skills are the only important points for being an artist. Once in a while, he sells his artwork with the help of the Cool Breeze team and also in local shops.
We help each other and Gian has a painting and podcast studio at the property where he showcases his art. His hard work paid off, and today his artwork is recognized all over the island, even being featured in the national MICE Conference Centre in Golo Mori. Despite the obstacles he faced, Gian proves that with determination and perseverance, anyone can achieve their dreams. His story is a source of inspiration for many people and a testament to the power of following one's passion. We are proud to show off his art around our hotel.
Neighborhood
Our establishment is situated in a charming and historic area of the village where we take pride in supporting our neighbors who tirelessly fish day and night. To help support the community, we directly purchase fresh fish from these fishermen and buy pastries from their families. We highly recommend our guests try these local delicacies when they visit. In collaboration with the village chief, we organize boat and fishing tours that offer visitors the chance to experience the traditional way of life here. We welcome you to explore and immerse yourself in this vibrant community with us, allowing you to discover the beauty of our local culture.
