Our Story

The hotel was started with our lifelong love for nature and Indonesia. Our long-lasting ambition and pleasure is to help people have a good time, so hospitality is our second nature. This came together 10 years ago with the acquisition of a little fisherman house made from the undestroyable ‘iron wood’ pillars from Sulawesi. After countless renovations, the building has now evolved into the Cool Breeze Hotel. We can still point you to the main pillars which are the same that the Tombong family constructed. Only 10 years ago, the houses at this quay were still with their feet (pillars) directly into the sea. The fisherman, who were at that time to a great extend emigrants from the Indonesian island of Sulawesi, came with their boats directly under their house, where now the ground floor is located. Later the sea was separated by the local government from the houses with a little quay wall. And only in the last few years during the Covid period this rather raw quay wall was rebuild and is now a much broader and sturdier boulevard with sufficient protection against storms and ample space for local and tourist people to stroll, play and relax, and obviously to work. We, the founders are a mix of Indonesian people and from Europe with strong love for Indonesia.

Our vision

We envisioned a space that seamlessly blends local tradition with modern comforts. In 2013, we acquired this property and worked carefully to preserve its original architectural elements. After that, we added modern amenities such as a filtered pool and climate control to make our guests’ stay more comfortable. Our dedication to maintaining the property's authentic charm while providing modern luxuries aims to offer a unique and memorable experience for all who visit.

Our mission

You will easily spot our hotel as the only one on this street, as it is surrounded by local blue coloured homes. Our aim is to offer a space that simultaneously highlights the local culture while respecting the community's interests. To achieve this, we obtain our ingredients from our neighbors and local fishermen, our cloth from the indigenous Manggarai people, and our decoration from local talent. We work closely with the village head and community to ensure that we blend in seamlessly within this historic neighborhood. We hope that you will also enjoy the local Karaoke tradition, if such an evening occurs during your stay (it occurs once a week), even when it sometimes is a little loud, but we certainly aim to protect your rest and sleep, also in this respect.
