Our Story
The hotel began with our love for nature, beauty and Indonesia. Our pleasure is to share our passion and help people have a good time, so hospitality is our second nature. This came together 10 years ago with the acquisition of a small fisherman house made from the undestroyable ‘iron wood’ pillars from Sulawesi. After countless renovations, the building has now evolved into the Cool Breeze Hotel. We can still show you the main pillars which have not been changed from the time that the Tombong family constructed it. Only a decade ago, the houses at this quay were still with their feet (pillars) directly into the sea. The fishermen, who were at that time to a great extend emigrants from the Indonesian islands of Sulawesi and Sumbawa, entered their homes by boats directly under their house, where the ground floor is located now. Later the local government separated the sea from houses with a little quay wall. In the last few years during the Covid period this rather raw quay wall was rebuilt and is now a much broader and sturdier boulevard with sufficient protection against storms and ample space for local and tourist people to stroll, play, relax, and obviously to work. We, the founders are a mix of Indonesian people and from Europe with strong love for Indonesia.

Our vision
We envisioned a space that seamlessly blends local tradition with modern comforts. In 2013, we acquired this property and worked carefully to preserve its original architectural elements. After that, we added modern amenities such as a filtered pool and climate control to make our guests’ stay more comfortable. Our dedication to maintaining the property's authentic charm while providing modern luxuries aims to offer a unique and memorable experience for everyone who visits.
Our mission
You will easily spot our hotel as a building on this street, without a blue-coloured-roof. Our aim is to offer a space that simultaneously highlights the local culture while respecting the community's interests. To achieve this, we obtain our kitchen ingredients from our neighbors and local fishermen, our cloth from the indigenous Manggarai people and our hotel decoration from local artists & craftsmen. We work closely with the village head and community to ensure that we blend in seamlessly within this folkloristic neighborhood. We hope that you will also enjoy the local Karaoke tradition, if such an evening occurs during your stay, even when sometimes the vocalists could be a little over enthusiastic, we certainly aim to protect your rest and sleep.
